SCRIP Ordering Information Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When OLR school families and church members purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of us already shop. These merchants want to support non profit organizations, and in return ask us to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. OLR families can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, we earn revenue for your organization. How scrip generates revenue for OLR. Our SCRIP provider acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. OLR buys the scrip from our SCRIP provider at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to you for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by your organization as revenue. Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”. The reason for the effectiveness of scrip is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny.   Retailers like Scrip, too. Families who purchase scrip certificates actively support the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know that buying from a scrip participating retailer provides a steady source of revenue for their church, school, or non-profit organization. What is an OLR SCRIP Voucher? We share our profits with you in the form of an OLR SCRIP Vouchers. For every $50 purchase you make of SCRIP, we give you a $1 voucher. These vouchers can ONLY be used towards OLR tuition, OLR registration fees, OLR comprehensive fees or can be donated to OLR Church for the Capital Improvement fund. These vouchers add up! Look at it this way, for every $100 you purchase in SCRIP, we give you $102 back! How to turn in your vouchers... If you are using your vouchers to reduce your tuition cost-when you pay your tuition, registration or comprehensive fees, subtract the dollar amount of vouchers from your payment and include the vouchers in the envelope with your payment. PLEASE use and envelope when paying tuition using vouchers, lost vouchers can not be replaced. If you would like to donate your vouchers to OLR church for the Capital Improvement Fund, there will be a box at the SCRIP table for you to donate your vouchers. Donation receipts are available. PLEASE DO NOT put vouchers in your church donation envelopes or the collection baskets. Get started now! Print a copy of the order form below and take your order with payment to the SCRIP table OR drop your order in the SCRIP box located in the school office.  Your order will be ready for pick-up on Wednesdays.   FAQ's On the sheet there is a column that indicates percentages. Is this the profit the school makes? The percentage column is the discount at which the school purchases the SCRIP.  We then sell it at face value and after shipping and expenses, make our profit. For example if the percentage is 5% and we purchase $100, we pay $95. We then sell them to you at face value and share our profit with you in the form of tuition vouchers ($1 for every $50 purchased). Can my family in other states purchase SCRIP through me and use it in their towns? With the exception of some local vendors, the SCRIP we sell is from nationwide companies and can be used anywhere in the US. SCRIP are simply gift certificates and are identical to the ones you would buy from the stores. We have many OLR families that have family from out of town that purchase SCRIP...it's a great way for family members to help you pay your tuition. We also have many families purchase SCRIP as gifts for out of town family gifts. You don't have to go to the store and get the gift certificate, we have it for you and you pop a gift card right into a holiday card and mail it (buying SCRIP for Christmas gifts is an incredible time saver around the busy holidays). If you let us know where you family is we may be able to give you some additional items that are not on our list that are specific to their area such as restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and convenience stores. Please note, we do need payment when you order your SCRIP even if it's not in stock...we generally have SCRIP that is not in stock available for you to pick up the following Wednesday. We have paid our tuition for the full year, can we use our vouchers next year? Tuition vouchers never expire, you can use them for next year. They can also be used for registration fees in February and comprehensive fees in June.      Remember… In addition to paying for tuition, SCRIP vouchers can be used to pay towards your registration fee (due in February), comprehensive fee (due in June) or donated to the church for the capital improvement fund.
